The Peninsula Principles: Now Available in Bengali!

To add to the English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic and Romanian versions of the Peninsula Principles on Climate Displacement Within States, the Principles are now available in Bengali. DS thanks Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) for this translation.

Bangladesh is one of the most climate vulnerable countries in the world and is set to become even more so as a result of climate change. Climate change is expected to increase the intensity and severity of many of the natural hazards already suffered by Bangladesh as well as negatively impact on the wider socio-economic situation, creating extensive losses in the housing, land and property sectors, further losses of livelihoods and driving new surges of migration and displacement.

DS and YPSA have been working since 2011 to find innovative rights-based solutions to climate displacement in Bangladesh. It is our hope that the Principles can be used to assist in protecting the rights of those facing climate displacement.

The Bengali translation of the Principles can be accessed here.
