DS is currently preparing a report entitled “Judicial Approaches to Climate Induced Displacement: A Guide for Lawyers and Judges” as part of the global Climate Change and Displacement Initiative.
This Guide will provide a toolkit for judges and lawyers to use in ensuring the legal protection of climate displaced persons utilizing existing national and international legal standards, including the Peninsula Principles on Climate Displacement within States.
The report seeks to ensure that judges and lawyers across the globe are able to pursue all possible avenues for legal protection of climate displaced persons under national and international law.
Climate displacement is a new and great challenge for the international community and it is essential that judges and lawyers play an increased and vital role in ensuring the protection of climate displaced persons.
